During her studies, she worked as a research assistant to several leading professors, contributing to work on artificial intelligence law, constitutional law, and international human rights. Basma gained legal experience through internships in the Senate of Canada, in the office of the Honourable Senator Pierre J. Dalphond, and at a law firm in Dubai.
She has competed internationally in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. Previously, she volunteered with the National Student Pro Bono Network and Lawyers Without Borders Canada.
She is the recipient of the Right Honourable Brian Dickson Prize for the highest standing in the University of Ottawa’s National Program (JD/LLL).
