Jean-Christophe Martel joins Woods
Woods is proud to announce the newest addition to its team, Jean-Christophe Martel. His talent is grounded in a strong academic and professional background that includes handling complex commercial disputes, international arbitration, class actions, and constitutional matters.
Over the course of his career, Jean-Christophe has litigated high-stakes disputes on behalf of clients from a wide range of industries, including aerospace, finance, construction, telecommunications, and forestry.
A graduate of Harvard University (LL.M.), Oxford University (M.Jur.), and the University of Ottawa (LL.L. and J.D.), Jean-Christophe is the only Canadian to have been awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship (Oxford) and Knox Fellowship (Harvard). He served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin at the Supreme Court of Canada from 2011 to 2012, and in 2013 was honoured with Harvard University’s Addison Brown Prize for the best research thesis in commercial law. Admitted to the New York and Quebec bars, He subsequently worked for prestigious law firms in New York and Montreal and appeared before various trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as the WTO, NAFTA/CUSMA binational panels, and various international arbitration tribunals.
